Ask an expert an important question

There are a lot of people in this world who give advice. Lots of people think that they have THE answer to any problem. However, one important question I like to ask is, “Do you use this?” Whenever someone is recommending (a particular product or service), I always like to ask them if they themselves are using that product or service. Sometimes you don’t even need to ask because you know they don’t use it. For example, when I was a Creative Memories Consultant for scrapbookers, there were consultants who were salespeople instead of actual scrapbookers. They would be selling a product, and being a scrapbooker, I could see flaws with the product. I’d bring those issues up, but they had no rebuttal because they didn’t even know how to really use the product. If an “expert” really believes in the product, they’ll be using it too. Find authenticity. You might have to really look.
