OK, the official tax day is over for 2015, and now it is a great time to start organizing for 2016. Even if you extended your 2015 return, you still had to review enough of your return to pay any taxes by April 15th (April 18th for this year). If you are organizing your tax information all along 2016, you will feel so much less anxiety in preparing your next tax return. Plus, you’ll be able to capture more in deductions as you record them as they are happening. The less we have to depend on our memories, the more accurate our financial information is. My Quicken 30 day kit is being finalized, but I want to offer a quick tip that sounds too simple to work. Just take any file folder you have, put a Taxes 2016 label on it, and file tax information during the whole year. It is such an easy thing to do, but the rewards are numerous. You will no longer have to pull out tons of files to get all your information. It is all in one spot. Filing as you go cuts out feeling overwhelmed. Small habit changes can pivot into huge gains. Happy filing as you go!
